Distinction for the Kolping Society of Hungary

Rev. Zoltán Meszlényi is not only one of the Blessed in the Catholic Church, but he was also a Praeses in the Kolping Society of Hungary from 1939 to 1945.  In this capacity, he strove for the expansion Fr. Kolping‘s ideas in his own home country of Hungary.  In 1937 he was ordained a Bishop.  He died in 1952 in a Communist prison camp.  Since he was beatified in Esztergom in 2009, his popularity in Hungary has risen steadily.

In a letter to the Kolping members in Hungary, Péter Cardinal Erd?, the Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest and Primate of Hungary, has now declared Bishop Zoltán Meszlényi as the Patron Saint of the Kolping Society of Hungary.  The Board and the National Secretary, Judit Hudson, reported that through the increased media coverage of this appointment more people in Hungary get to know the work of the Kolping Society.
