More than 100 members attended a conference of Kolping Germany on the current challenges in the world of work and occupation, held in Bad Honnef on March 9 – 11, 2012.

On the basis of the Christian understanding of work which, along with
gainful employment, includes also family and volunteer work, the conference participants dealt extensively with the upheavals in the working world due to globalization and the current challenges posed by the financial crises in several European countries.

The working paper focused on the questions of fair wages, further development of the social security systems, and the importance of regional economic circles. In summary, the participants noted: "In accordance with the Catholic Social Teachings,
we advocate an economic system, such as the social market economy, that gives people a fair chance to participate in economic and societal life."
