Regional assembly: Kolping Eastern Region calls for a welcoming culture in a free and democratic society

During its session at the end of January, the regional assembly of the Kolping Society, Eastern Region (union of the East German Diocesan Organizations Berlin, Dresden-Meißen, Erfurt, Görlitz und Magdeburg) has adopted a declaration on the demonstrations and counterdemonstrations of PEGIDA and its spin-offs.

“We, as the Kolping Society Eastern Region are in favor of a welcoming culture in a free and democratic society where values and principles of the Catholic Social Teaching are lived in situ” it says. The delegates call on “all people of good will to establish a fair dialogue on necessary solutions based on Christian values of the current problems and questions.” Everyone, with his/her own talents and possibilities, shall stand up for a fraternal world where the commandment of charity is practiced.
