Upon invitation by H.E. Dominic Duka, Cardinal of Prague, 180 Kolping members travelled to Rome to witness Pope Francis being introduced officially. Msgr. Duka is the Archbishop of Prague and National Praeses of the Czech Kolping Society. »

On behalf of the International Kolping Society, I warmly congratulate the newly-elected Pope Francis. I am very happy that, with the election of the Cardinal Jorge Maria Bergoglio SJ, an Argentine for the first time has been elected Pope, and I am convinced that this joy is shared by all Kolping Sisters and Kolping Brothers in the 61 nations of the International Kolping Society, as this election indeed shows how important Latin America is for the Catholic Church.  »
Slovenia: With a new protector against the economic crisis
During a visit to Slovenia, the General Secretary, Dr. Markus Demele, met the Archbishop of the diocese Maribor, Dr. Marjan Turnšek, who is the new protector of the Kolping Society Slovenia. The Archbishop informed himself in detail about the developments in the international association and the Kolping Families worldwide. »
The European Sunday Alliance calls on all politicians in Europe to act
Brussels: One out of three Europeans has to work regularly on a Sunday, contends the European Sunday Alliance. According to the Deutsche Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DWI) the Sunday work participation rate is 30 % in EU Member States. The failure of the negotiations on the EU Working Time Directive in 2009 and again last December strengthened the risk of increasing flexible working hours and for related health risks. The European Sunday Alliance expects that a citizen-friendly EU policy should enhance the health and social security of all citizens. Social cohesion is thereby strengthened. Europe is not only an economic but also a social and cultural community. »
72 hours that have something to show for
“72 Hours” is the title of a social campaign of the Federation of German Catholic Youths (BDKY), the Catholic Youth of Austria, and the Swiss Youth Associations. Kolping is naturally also represented in this community. [Translate to English:] 72 Stunden ist der Titel einer Sozialaktion des Bundes der Deutschen Katholischen Jugend (BDKJ), der Katholischen Jugend Österreichs und der Schweizer Jugendverbände. Auch Kolping ist in dieser Gemeinschaft natürlich vertreten. Es gilt, eine Aufgabe zu lösen. »
Hungary: Looking at Youth
The Kolping Society of Hungary is making greater efforts to promote youth work in the Kolping Families, which in some parts of the country desperately need younger members. »
