02.05.2012: Ukraine: Project for autistic children recognized as a pilot project

For several years, the Kolping Family Lemberg (Lwow) has been trying to provide care and support for autistic children. The country’s Ministry of Education has meanwhile recognized this initiative of the Kolping Family as a pilot project, thus giving it a wider support.

As part of this pilot project, life-long support measures for people with autism are being developed and tested. The envisioned assistance includes working with autistic children in kindergarten, the monitoring of children during school time, assistance in career orientation, and a concept for lifelong assisted-living accommodations. The aim of the pilot project is to give these measures an appropriate legal basis and to reorganize the existing system so that autistic people can be offered decent living conditions.
